Immigrants Will Play Record Role in 2020 US Election

JobsAWorld - Passport

The 2020 United States election could look very different, due to the ethnicity of the eligible voters

US immigrants make up a much higher share of Hispanic and Asian voters than white and black voters. Over 65 percent of eligible Asian voters are immigrants, and 25 percent of Hispanic immigrants are eligible voters. The number of immigrants residing in the United States has risen consistently since 1965. That year the Immigration and Nationality Act became law.

In recent years, an increased number and share of immigrants residing in America have naturalized. In the past decade, 7.2 million immigrants naturalized and were granted citizenship, according to the US Department of Homeland Security. Over 756,000 immigrants naturalized in Fiscal Year 2018 alone.
